A Surrogate must fulfill various requirements to prove she is both physically and mentally ready and capable for carrying a pregnancy.
Health qualifications to be a Surrogate
Must have had successful pregnancies without any significant complications in delivery
Aged 21 to 37
Body Mass Index (BMI) no higher than 33
Do not have any sexually transmitted diseases that may cause serious harm to the Surrogate’s or the baby’s health
Do not have any mental illness or not on antidepressants
Haven’t been to a country where Zika infection occurred within the last six months
Lifestyle qualifications to be a Surrogate
Has proper support of family/partner/spouse
Is ok with travelling to the physician's office or IVF clinic
Not a smoker and live in a non-smoking environment
Not have substance abuse history
Be ready to abstain from alcohol throughout the medical process and pregnancy
Willing to take self-administer injectable medications
Legal qualifications to be a Surrogate
Either be a U.S. Citizen or a permanent resident
Live in AZ, CA, CO, DC, DE, IL, FL, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NV, OR, RI, SC, TX, UT, WA or VT
Is not a participant of the following government aid programs: cash assistance, welfare, public housing and section 8. Any other government assistance will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Lives in a Surrogate-friendly state in the United States (we are very sorry but we cannot accept gestational carriers who reside in Nebraska, Louisiana or Michigan)
Has a valid driver’s license
Sign important documents that will give us access to her health records from past pregnancies and surrogacy journey
